about Petőfi Museum of Literature
The Petőfi Museum of Literature, founded in 1954, is a public collection that explores and collects the Hungarian literary heritage in the widest possible way as well as presents and transfers classical and contemporary Hungarian literature to generations of audiences from a multifaceted perspective in order to support and strengthen the linguistic and cultural identity that welcomes the diversity of cultures in the world.
Another major goal of the museum is to get widely known and appreciated by the society through maintaining and continuously enriching cultural memory by providing opportunities for personal and community experiences of the dialogue between literature and other arts.
